I just can’t get over how fun it is to use a spinning reel and rod for small creek angling. Mostly under hand or side arm underhand cast, and the prize at the end of the perfect cast is; well normally a native Cutthroat or Rainbow Trout. I have over the years developed a style of angling that marries the art of Fly angling with the art of Spin angling, along with making my own lures; style, color,weight,material and size. While learning how to mend my line as a Fly angler and read the water for the best holding areas for resident Trout, I have taken this information and developed it along with the lite weight gear and spinning reels. I have become rather adept at it here, we have a few rivers in this state that allow both Fly angling and Spin angling together. I haven’t had the oppertunity to compete with Fly angler one on one to see if one is more productive than the other. My son is an avid Fly angler maybe we should have a family tournament, winner gets bragging rights until the next contest…..hummm this could work. Any more closet Spin Fishers out there ? Chuck
